Research into title sequences

I researched into title sequences as I think that this is a key part to the opening of a movie. Although it is not as important as the movie content itself it is still important that it is there. There is evidence for this because every film has title sequences at the start. The title sequences give recognition for the producers and other people who work off the camera. The people who work behind the camera don't get as much recognition as they are not watched by an audience. Celebrities get more recognition as they are more well known and connect more with an audience off screen which makes us give the recognition to the actors and actresses. However, by adding their names and roles to the title sequences it helps other movie producers. This is because if they like certain aspects of the movie they can then hire the people who have done well in that department. For example, if the producers of another film like a make up artists work they can then hire them for their movie, which could then improve the movie itself.
As I wanted to make my movie as good as some of the big movies in the film industry I wanted to have a title sequence that will catch the audiences attention in order to keep their attention until the movie comes on. I browsed online to see some existing movie title sequences. When I did this I learnt there were many ways I could choose to represent my movie before it even starts. I went onto a website which was www.artofthetitle.com. This website offered many different title sequences which I could get inspiration from in order to make my title sequence as good as possible. I wanted to look at film titles that can be related to mine and have similar subjects within them.
I then found a title sequence to the movie buried which was released in 2010. As I wanted the title sequence to relate to my movie I looked at this trailer to see how it incorporated the movie into the title sequence. As the movie is called "Buried" it used an image of a mucky ground which looked to be underground. This is a good way to incorporate it as the viewer is finding out about the work behind the movie as well as seeing clues as to what the movie may be about. The title sequence also has sound, it is an eerie tone which to me suggests mystery. This music would be good as normally in a crime movie there is a mystery and problem solving element within it. As my movie will be revolved around crime this would be a good suggestion of the kind of music genre I want to use as my movie will need to create a similar tone and theme.

As I also wanted to keep my viewers entertained I looked at another title sequence of a crime related movie with a comedic sub genre. I also found this title sequence from www.artofthetitle.com. This movie was called 21 jump street. This film is mainly based around the audience of teenagers. As some of my audience will be teenagers I decided that by looking at this it could give me ideas which will help to keep the viewers interested. The movie consists of two famous actors named Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum. As there personalities in the movie were funny, they used sound which would help reflect the movie and the characters. The music soundtrack is upbeat and this can help to engage the viewer with the characters. Unlike the Buried trailer 21 Jump street gives more actual film footage which gives the reader an idea of what the film will consist of. Although they have similarities, the two title sequences have credits which help the backstage workers get credit for what they've done. Again this could be good as it could help them get future jobs.
From the research that I have done from other title sequences I want it to relate to my movie. I may also incorporate the characters into this as then the viewers will have basic understanding of what type of people they're. I also want images which represent to my movie to be involved as this will keep the theme on-going. As all the title sequences give credit to off scene workers I want to do this as well as this will help make my movie look more professional. As I also want to keep my viewers interested I will use catchy and upbeat music which will sound more interesting than a basic soundtrack.
